The SEO World Championship wrapped up on May 1st. I outlined how the Championsip worked in an earlier post titled “SEO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP“. The winner is Benj Arriola. Benj has the website goglobalwarmingawareness2007.com.
Part of the idea behind this contest was to bring awareness about the supposedly problem of global warming. I think it’s ironic that the winner as well as many others put up a lot of facts shooting holes in the Global Warming theory rather than supporting the theory as the organizers had hoped.

The SEO World Championships will offer newbie SEO’s a peek at Master SEO tactics
This is a Championship contest amoung SEO’s. I’ve looked over some of the contestants and you have some Heavyweight SEO’s, some would-be SEO’s and some wannabe SEO’s participating in this contest.
Here’s how it works. The SEO World Championship chooses a keyword phrase. At the end of the contest, who ever has the most points wins. Pretty simple hunh?
How do the participants get points you ask? The points are counted from 10 to 1 by your position in each of the three major search engines: Google, Yahoo and MSN.

Google Adsense TOS has been updated and things are getting a little tougher for Adsense publishers.
Competitive Ads and Services In order to prevent user confusion, we do not permit Google ads or search boxes to be published on websites that also contain other ads or services formatted to use the same layout and colors as the Google ads or search boxes on that site. Although you may sell ads directly on your site, it is your responsibility to ensure these ads cannot be confused with Google ads.
From where I’m sitting, it looks like Google is forcing publishers to choose between Adsense or YPN or MSN. Google knows they have a huge majority of the marketshare in this sector and that most of us will choose Google Adsense over the others.

CrazyEgg.Com is a website where you can sign up and they will monitor the clicks on your website. What’s the big deal about that you might ask?
Well, if you’re an Affiliate or Internet Marketer or use SEO practices to make money on the internet, it’s a big deal!
Once you sign up with CrazyEgg, they will give you a snippet of code to put on your website. Once there, this code will monitor clicks on any page that the code snippet is on. You can choose how many days it monitors your site or how many visitors.
Once you log into your account, CrazyEgg will list the pages they are monitoring. You can then choose to run a “report” on any of your pages. This report will show you where people are clicking, how many clicks you recieved for each spot (and the % of clicks in that spot) plus you have the option of checking out a heat map of where people are clicking. This is one “cool” site for sure, but is it really useful?

A recent survey by comScore Networks showed that Google and Yahoo added marketshare while Ask & MSN loss ground.
Google’s market share is up to 47.4% with a 0.4% increase in December. Yahoo was edging up also.
The comScore Networks survey said that Microsoft search slid 0.5% to 10.5% of web search while Ask.com slid 0.5% to 5.4%. (this surprises me, I didn’t know Ask had that much market share)

SEO for Firefox is a Firefox extension that works with your Firefox browser.
This is a powerful Firefox extension that makes your SEO researching a lot easier.
“…SEO for Firefox gives you instant SEO data at your fingertips”
Now I’m the type of person that hates adding third party software to my computer. In the past when I’ve tried many add-ons and such, they’ve left me dissapointed or worse, didn’t work as advertised or worse yet, screwed up my computer. To say I was a little leary of adding this extension would be an understatment!
