The Grim Reaper of Bloggers is ever present. He hunts the Internet for his next victim, slowly looking at blogs and their authors. Young or old, good writers or bad, he doesn’t care, he preys on all. His victims range in the hundreds of thousands, his victims never see him coming until it’s too late.
This stalker also has a sidekick helping him prey upon the unsuspecting.
What are their names?
Procastination and Impatience.
Together they rack up an unbelievable body count of bloggers every day.
It doesn’t have to be this way you know. The Grim Reaper can be beaten back. You can win the war between Blogging and becoming a statistic on the list of “RIP Bloggers.”
The Internet is full of dead blogs. I see them every week when I’m hunting for links. Blogger.com has to be the graveyard of bloggers if there is one!
How To Prevent Yourself From Becoming A Victim
I keep notebooks and notepads everywhere, especially on my desk. Whenever I think of something to write for one of my websites or blogs, I jot it down. I have pages upon pages of noted for new articles. Now all I have to do it make the time to research and write them.
I write out my schedule for the upcoming week. This includes writing down the articles I plan to write. This forces me to get writing and stay on a schedule. I know to meet that deadline I’m going to have to start my research and writing…NOW!
Every once in a while something comes up that interupts that schedule, but I should strive to work what ever it is into the currents weeks schedule and be done with it. I hate distractions!
I’d say next to the lack of something to write about, not being pasionate about the subject you’re blogging about causes many bloggers to fall victim to the Grim Reaper of Bloggers and to give up. If you find the subject you blog about truly interesting, it will be easy to find material to share with your readers.
Reading others’ blogs is necessary, but if I don’t watch myself, I’ll spend all night just reading other blogs and getting nothing done. I have to keep reminding myself “You suppose to be writing.” It’s easeir to read than write. The good procastinator can find a thousand reasons to read other peoples blogs instead of writing for their own. I know, I’ve been there.
Impatience is the sidekick of Procastination. Many of these dead blogs on the Internet have good PR. Looking at their archives, it seems many of these bloggers gave up just before their blog took off. Chances are many have popular blogs and didn’t even realize it.
If you’re new to blogging or have been in it for a few months, my best advice would be to plan a minimum of two years of blogging. Within that two years you’ll gain experience and develop systems for writing and researching. Or you will if you expenct to make it as a blogger!
For some reasons, the average blogger looking to make money on the internet thinks they’ll start blogging today and make money tomorrow. It doesn’t work that way unless you have a boat load of money to invest in PPC programs!
To keep you’re blog active and interesting, I’d say you need to be cranking out a minimum of 3 post a week. More would be better obviously.
What’s that you say? Still can’t find anything to write about? Here are a couple solutions.
1. Hire someone. Look at eLance, RentACoder or search the webmaster forums for someone to write some blog post for you. It’s inexpensive and they can bring in a lot of different view points you’ve never thought about.
2. Invite a Guess blogger to post on your blog. Don’t expect them to stay around for ever, but a Guess blogger can do wonders to your blog. Also, don’t look around for a Guess blogger after only a month of blogging, that would look kinda bad.
3. Ask your readers for suggestions. Your readers can be a wonderful source of information. All you need to do is ask.
4. Post questions on forums and in the comment section of other blogs. If you truly have questions that would help your readers, ask, ask away! There are people who are more than willing to help. You just have to ask.
With good content and a little amount of time (which means about two years) you too can avoid being a Internet statistic and become a blogging Super Star! Remember, the Grim Reaper of Bloggers doesn’t care who it’s next victim is, stay active blogging and let him pass you over for your neighbor!

Okay, enough is enough.
I’ve deleted several of your comments in my Admin panel thinking both of you would let this go.
Take your fight off of my blog. You’ve both made your points.
