Affiliate Programs

Most people who get into affiliate marketing ask their self this question quite often. If you spend any amount of time surfing the blogs and forums, you’ll see all kinds of numbers flying around about who makes what and how they do it.

Paula Neal Mooney has compiled a list of Bloggers and their annual incomes. Now this is not a list set in concrete because many of these bloggers use one form of affiliate marketing or another.  Search engine algorithms and traffic flow can all have an effect on month to month income.

Not all of us make this kind of cash obviously. And to be honest, there are probably plenty of people that are not on that list that make a lot more. Many people are very secretive about what they make off of their blogs.  There are a million or more people just waiting to try and copy anyones success and will stop at nothing to do it. As the old saying goes “Loose lips sink ships”.

The point is that with a proven game plan, hard work and focus, many people can make a decent living at blogging and affiliate marketing. The problem that I so often see is that many people try for a month and then give up.

I’d say that the average person should plan on a minimum of 2 years of blogging and affiliate marketing. That’s a minimum of 2 years of researching articles, posting to their blogs, marketing their blogs, researching affiliate programs, SEO optimizing their blogs and testing different affiliate offers.

It doesn’t take long to realize that making money on the ‘Net isn’t as easy as many of the eBook authors would have you believe. However I sincerely believe that if you apply yourself and have interesting and helpful information and post regularly, you can make your blog and affiliate programs create a living for yourself.
