How To Set Up Multiple Adsense and Adword Accounts

September 18th, 2007 · 11 Comments

It still surprises me how many people haven’t figured this one out yet. It’s really simple. For those of you who haven’t figured this one out yet, I’m going to tell you how to set up multiple Adsense or Adword accounts.

First off, for those of you who are screaming that Adsense only allows one account per person, pipe down, you don’t know what you’re talking about. Sure, Adsense would like for you to only have one account, but wanting something and requiring something is two different things.

Why You Should Have Multiple Adsense and Adword Accounts

To set up multiple accounts, you need the mindset of an Entrepreneur. Think like a business owner.

I have a couple companies that I own and run. Each company has it’s own Checking, Savings and Credit account. Do you know what nightmare it would be to try and run these companies from one checking account? Do you think Donald Trump runs his empire from one account? No and neither should you, especially at tax time.

Come tax time, you’ll be thankful that you had one Adsense and Adword account per company. It’s a real bitch trying to sort out income streams from several companies with one Adsense account.

Setting Up Multipe Adsense and Adword Accounts

Fist off, you’re going to need a P.O. box. I prefer to use mail companies like The UPS Store. By using a mail company, your address can say “Suite 101″ instead of P.O. Box 101. Which address would you rather do business with?

So to get started, you ideally want one Adsense and Adword account per company. So you’ll start off by filing a DBA at the county seat (for U.S. Citizens) if you don’t already have a tax id number.

Once you have you DBA paperwork finalized (depends on the state/county you live in) you can then go to the IRS and obtain a tax i.d.

The IRS really discourages an individual from having more than one tax i.d., but it is possible. Ask your accountant or attorney about the pro’s and con’s because I’m no expert when it comes to taxes. That’s why I hire professionals to do it for me and you should also.

Now that you have your tax i.d., go to Google and sign up for an Adsense and Adwords account for each company you own. I also use a different email address for each company. Each company will naturally have a different mailing address if you’ve done your work right.

Yeah, it’s that simple!

Some have worried about using their Adsense and Adword accounts from the same I.P.  I haven’t seen this to be a problem. If it were, every SEO company out there who had multiple Clients using Adwords would be in big trouble. Set your accounts up legitimately and don’t worry about it.

This is the legitimate way of setting up multiple Adsense and Adword accounts. There are many ways to do it non-legit ;)

Hi its seems like stupid but adsense gave me 2 accounts. But now that my balance reached 4,000 USD per account i am not sure that adsense will be alive or not. I am reluctant to contact support. Now i am looking to change my address and divert it to my friends home. I know the postal guy he is my friend. So i dont have any problem with letters. Adsense is just my biggest worry as of now.

And what about the Adsense payee name? You may change the business name and address, but your personal name always stays the same. Doesn’t it matter? Or do you have another solution for this that you didn’t mention?

The Adsense Payee name will be the name of your company.

Great post, I am based in the U.K and just waiting for the Donald Trump of Google to say “your banned” And I am prepared for it all. Not done anything wrong but just waiting for some geek to click bomb me or something daft !

This is option is for the U.K Lads n Lassies.

    The same can be done in the U.K, If you have a company, If not just do the following ;

Set up a LTD online at companies house (about £35)

Get a Non status account at Nat West (they only offer telebanking) No deposit required, but no credit offered, comes with Solo Debit card and cheque book.

Use a mailing address, Exchange and Mart have lots of options…

We don’t need to provide any Tax I.D as it’s for the U.S.A only.

    You will be asked for a VAT No, it takes months to get one coz of all the Vat fraud that is going on, so if you don’t have one or can’t wait up to 9 months ! do the following ;

Enter a bogus Vat No, It’s not illegal as by law a Ltd company does not have to have a Vat No
but for some reason Google enforce this option, which is wrong as not all Co are Vat Reg’d in the U.K, Something I think there overpaid lawyers missed :-o They only use the VAT No to submit it to HM Tax n Rev, so they can claim the Vat back.

Use a mailing address, Exchange and Mart have lots of options… I don’t suggest a P.O box.

And away you go, back in.

Interesting, has anyone sucessfully done this? When they used the number to claim back VAT wouldn’t it show as a made up number or something?

A company need not be VAT registered, it depends if it’s turnover exceeds the threshold. Ltd companies and VAT registration are two different things altogether.

However, it would be much simpler to use another individual, your wifes maiden name account, your Mothers address, etc., rather than mucking around with fake VAT numbers, PO Boxes and maildrops.

Others are not cheap to feed.

Google indicates that they don’t like P.O. boxes anymore.

What about using the same old website domain name? Will adsense re-ban you for that?

  • 9 Affiliate Programs // Dec 30, 2008 at 8:55 am

    Good Question Dave,

And honestly, I don’t know the answer. I’ve never tried that. I do know that people pick up dropped domains all the time that have been previously banned by Adsense, but since Google is a Registrar, they can tell when someone has bought the domain.

Interesting, I had Adsense acc. banned one year ago. (indivitual acc.) Can I have a chance to turn around by setting up company account? If yes, please help me out step by step. Many thanks in advance.
