New Marketer Flock Shooting

Flock shooting is the process in which one shoots at the whole flock of birds rather than singling one individual out. If you’ve never bird hunted, you may be asking yourself “what’s wrong with that?”

“…do you have trouble just picking one project for income?”

The problem is, one tends to miss all the birds and come away empty handed.

For many, Internet Marketing is a lot like hunting birds and shooting at the whole flock. After a while they’re out of shells (read as out of money, time, patience or all three) and quit in disgust.

Successful bird hunters are trained to pick one bird out of a flock and concentrate on that one individual until it’s out of range or folds up dead. Then and only then do they pick another bird from the flock. People who can do this routinely are know as successful wingshooters.

Some people have no problem picking one internet project and working on it till completion. Others, myself included, have a helluva time just concentrating on one project. For me, there are just so many ways to make money on the internet and I get excited by many of them. For me, the creation and launch phases are my favorite….next to the making money phase :)  I love starting new projects and seeing them take off but I’m easily distracted when a new idea for a project pops up in my head.

There are many tools on the market today to help one stay focused on one project until it’s completed. This is important for your online success! Alexis Dawes has several helpful ways of helping marketers stay focused. One way is with her Blog and Membership Site called New Project Addict.

Reading her blog about how easy she was distracted when it came to new projects is like reliving many of my experiences! Her description of a New Project Addict describes me to a “T”.

Let’s take this blog for example. I’ve had this idea of a blog for almost two years. A little over a year ago I registered the domain. I then put it on the back burner while I chased other projects. Finally, I forced myself to sit down, find a host and get this baby up and running. What should have taken a few days has taken almost two years! See how flock shooting can rob you of your time and money?

Whether you use her tools or someone elses, it’s important you work out a system for creating and launching projects if you’re prone to Flock Shooting. I personally sit down and force myself to write out my plan in a notebook. Then I follow the plan and lightly scratch through each phase when I’ve completed it. In fact, it’s a lot like setting goals! (yeah, I hate setting and following goals also)

If you find yourself with a lot of half finished projects, then create a written plan of attack and follow the plan to success! Force youself to remain ontrack until your project is up and running successfully.

Here’s to your future success,

Don
